Kalamkari cushion cover

A line of patterned cushions that embodies fine craftsmanship. Each piece is hand-painted: the design emerges from a single gesture, an extension of the brushstroke. The inspiration comes from Kalamkari, an ancient painting technique originating in India and Iran. The name combines two words, Kalam (pen) and Kari (work).

Using natural pigments, the designs are created on cotton soaked in buffalo milk and resin. These works are created over a long period: 24 hours of drying time are required between each layer. The result is unique covers in harmonious colors, each telling a story.
